As part of its digital factory program, Faurecia optimizes the automated logistics of guided vehicles thanks to the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform

  • Faurecia has expanded its use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to simulate the inbound logistics of automated guided vehicles in its factories
  • Optimized AGV routing improves logistics flows and operational efficiency of these equipments
  • Virtual twin experiences allow automotive suppliers to simulate and test some complex manufacturing setups before production

Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) announces today that Faurecia, a Forvia group company, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, has expanded its use of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to optimize its logistics arrival of the guided vehicles. Faurecia is tackling the growing complexity of the supplier manufacturing environment by improving logistics flows, increasing efficiency, reducing costs and delivering products to customers on time in a more sustainable way.

Faurecia uses the experience of Dassault Systèmes’ “On Target Vehicle Launch” industrial solution based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to determine and validate the best logistics scenarios for make-to-order assembly lines. Faurecia can simulate and visualize AGV routing with respect to workstations, resource availability, assembly constraints and variabilities, balancing and line flow in a virtual twin experience, before starting the production for a customer.

Automotive OEM manufacturing environments are increasingly complex, producing more product variants for concurrent programs under tighter deadlines, while managing last-minute engineering changes in increasingly automated factories. .

Optimizing AGV routing is a key step in Faurecia’s digital factory program, initiated by its Clean Mobility business and now used to transform production processes for seats, interiors and electronics for “driving cockpits”. future” connected, personalized and predictive automobiles in response to these trends. With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Faurecia can synchronize machines, optimize supplies, reduce shop floor footprint, shorten cycle times and improve energy and manufacturing efficiency, with full digital continuity between products, processes and a plant.

“We are committed to being carbon neutral by 2030, starting with reducing the energy consumption of our factories by 15%. This means simultaneous engineering on new products and processes and reduction of waste in terms of logistics flows,” said Patrick Brionne, group industrial and ME strategy director, Faurecia. “With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, we are optimizing our AGV routing and increasing our production performance from day one. Already we have identified a bottleneck before starting production and reworked the process design, layout and AGV flow to ensure that we can deliver parts to our customer as promised.

“Suppliers need to be able to introduce new products, launch new programs and streamline production processes quickly and sustainably. AGV flow plays a key role in gaining competitive advantage. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables suppliers like Faurecia to improve the logistics of existing factories and plan those of tomorrow that will be even more efficient,” said Laurence Montanari, Vice President, Transport and Mobility Industry, Dassault Systèmes .
