(Press release) – CNMI’s Energy Division Office is pleased to announce the launch of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands – Energizing Insular Communities – Energy Efficient/Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program for the second year, to help interested residents reduce their home’s energy use and utility costs by offering appliance rebate coupons, as a financial incentive, to be redeemed at participating local sellers or retailers to receive an instant in-store rebate, for replacement appliances. old inefficient appliances by Energy Efficient/Energy Star qualified products. Due to funding limitations, the number of coupons is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while funds last, for residents of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Given the steep rise in the cost of fuel and other financial hardships that may affect residents due to current economic conditions, the Energy Division will initiate the program in a manner that will reduce the need for residents to move multiple times by vehicle to reduce unnecessary and unwanted fuel costs, allowing interested residents to Reserve a program request and confirmation number in advance, by contacting the Energy Division office and providing all necessary information about program requirements. Only one program request, per household, is authorized for: a refrigerator; a washing machine; and up to two individual air conditioners (window-type or split-type units).
Once complete information has been obtained and verified, residents will receive a confirmation number which is unique only to the caller, which must be presented, as evidence, to designated officials visiting the Energy Division for verification in order to receive a rebate coupon program application. Confirmation numbers should not be shared with any other person and should only be presented by the holder. (Additional requirements or conditions may apply.)
