Manitoba reintroduces TRIP program ahead of May long weekend – Winnipeg

Manitoba is reinstating the Tourism Rebate Incentive Program (TRIP).

The program, which began last summer, encourages Manitobans to get out and travel around the province by offering a $100 rebate when you stay at a hotel or motel. More than 25,000 Manitobans have taken advantage of the program, totaling nearly $2.2 million in rebates.

“To say that TRIP 2021 was a success would be a huge understatement, as with nearly 25,000 Manitobans taking advantage of the discount, this stimulus package has had a massive impact on Manitoba’s beleaguered tourism industry,” said Chuck Davidson, President and CEO, Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.

“With this new series of TRIP discounts, we are encouraging Manitobans to get out this spring to visit our beautiful province while supporting our valuable recreational assets.

“Outside of tracked expenses, TRIP participants surveyed told us they spent an average of $510 on their trip, for an estimated total spend of $11.2 million, representing a return on investment about 5 to 1. This program has made a huge difference to tourism in Manitoba and we are thrilled to be able to do it again,” says Davidson.

Sign up on Trip.MB.ca and after your trip, you’ll receive a $100 check in the mail or electronically deposited via PayPal.

Travel Manitoba President and CEO Colin Ferguson says TRIP is a great way to find a vacation that speaks to you. “You may be dreaming of recharging your batteries on a weekend spa getaway or rediscovering a hidden gem you visited a long time ago,” he said. “You could explore an area of the province that has always piqued your interest or book a fun stay at a hotel with waterslides with the kids. Whatever type of getaway you design, TRIP is a win-win.

Manitoba residents between the ages of 18 and 43 can choose from ONE of TWO reimbursement options:

1) Book and stay at a hotel, motel or resort in Manitoba, then access a $100 discount by uploading proof of purchase to our online platform at www.tripmb.ca.

2) Manitobans looking for a day trip or outing can visit any of the province’s 31 participating featured attractions and then upload proof of purchase to our online platform at www.tripmb.ca to access a 50% discount on general admission.
