On the June event horizon: 34 events & programming deadlines on your agenda

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Many technology and life sciences related events and program deadlines will take place in June. Several events will be held in person or in a hybrid format, while several others will remain virtual.

Building on WRAL TechWire’s ongoing work to track important events and deadlines across North Carolina, here’s a look at what to expect in June 2022:

1 Million Lake Norman Cups

June 1, 7:30-9am (online)

Every Wednesday morning, entrepreneurs from the Normandy basin come together to present their businesses to mentors, advisors and other startups. Sign up to meet new people and collaborate with other entrepreneurs.

1 million Charlotte cups

June 1, 8-9 a.m. (online)

Held weekly, 1 Million Cups Charlotte features a presentation from a local startup followed by a community Q&A.

1 million Wilmington cups

June 1, 9-10 a.m. (online)

This weekly event brings together entrepreneurs from the Wilmington and Cape Fear community to come together over coffee, occasional startup presentations and conversation.

1 Million Cups, presented by Kauffman, is a weekly informal pitching event for the startup community. Join us for free coffee and entrepreneurial support as local startups pitch.

Dolphin Tank: AgTech in the Triangle

June 1 @Alexandria Center for AgTech

The next local event in Springboard’s Dolphin Tank Series is AgTech in the Triangle. Women entrepreneurs will showcase their products/services and receive constructive ideas from investors and subject matter experts.

Application Deadline: NCDOR Business Resumption Grant Program

June 1

The North Carolina Department of Revenue launches the second phase of its business resumption grant program, with revised eligibility criteria for businesses that do not meet economic loss requirements for hospitality and reimbursement or who were excluded from Phase 1 because they received funds from certain federal programs.

June 6 in Asheville

Code for Durham: Civic Hacking Session

Code for Durham brings together technologists, designers, developers, data scientists, mappers and activists to collaborate on civic technology projects. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month.

NC TECH Virtual Career Fair

NC TECH’s Job Expo connects job seekers and employers live via chat and video. Employers will host virtual booths outlining employee perks/benefits, vacancies and more. While the event is primarily focused on candidates seeking tech-related jobs/careers and internships, many employers have openings in non-technical roles such as sales/marketing, finance and support customer.

Medical, Biomedical & Biodefense: Support for the Warfighter Symposium

June 8-9 @The Friday Center

This annual event brings together military departments and other federal agencies that need or purchase medical supplies, equipment, devices, pharmaceuticals, medical information technology, and medical services. Representatives will provide briefings on military requirements, procurement processes and vendor qualifications, and more.

AITP-RTP: modernize your software quality assurance with visual testing

June 9, 5:30-8:30 p.m. @NC State University Club

This month’s AITP-RTP meetup features Andrew Knight, who will discuss how automation can detect visual changes over time and how automated visual testing can be added to a quality assurance strategy.

Find and understand federal opportunities

Hosted by the North Carolina Military Business Center, this training series will focus on identifying federal websites used by government agencies to advertise goods/services opportunities and long-term supply forecasts. (The next event in the series will take place in September.)

Application Deadline: One NC Small Business Program Grants

June 30th

The latest round of grants from the One North Carolina Small Business program will provide $5 million to emerging technology companies across the state, in conjunction with the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.
