Paravision to Support DoD Joint Center for Artificial Intelligence Data Readiness Program

SAN FRANCISCO, March 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — paravisionthe U.S. leader in critical facial recognition and computer vision, today announced that it has been awarded a Basic Order Agreement (BOA) for the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) .

The award is a testament to Paravision’s ability to work with large-scale data and provides a mechanism for the company to directly support JAIC’s Artificial Intelligence Development Data Readiness (DRAID) program, which has a total value of up to $241 million. The DoD will use DRAID to leverage the excellence of American businesses to ensure AI readiness of the data that will fuel the DoD’s AI transformation. Paravision will provide extensive expertise in complex AI systems and machine learning models, especially those that require rigorous data.

AI ethics were central to the JAIC selection process. Paravision has an ethics committee to ensure alignment with its AI principles for any deployment of its award-winning software. Paravision believes its AI technology should be trained ethically and sold mindfully and works hard to improve bias and minimize differential performance. Evidence of this can be seen in the latest facial recognition test by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which showed extremely low false mismatch rates for each demographic group tested.

“We have embedded ethics into our processes at every step of the process, from developing products, to reviewing use cases, to providing solutions for critical government applications. We were delighted to see that the DoD is making significant efforts to vet vendors based on both AI ethics and operational excellence,” said Benji Hutchinson, President and COO of Paravision. “We look forward to support the JAIC and keep the United States and our armed forces at the forefront of AI excellence.”
