Software Development Degree Program Approved for Sheridan College – Sheridan Media

A new curriculum has been officially added at Sheridan College, and students can not only learn from their computer, but create programs for that computer.

College officials were notified last week that the Higher Learning Commission had approved the college to have an associate’s degree in software development.

The diploma will be available online or in classrooms.

Collaborative relationships are currently being established for the College with Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Northwest College in Powell, and the University of Wyoming.

College President Dr. Walter Tribley says the addition of the degree program is more than just a victory for the College.

“This is part of the Wyoming Innovation Partnership, backed by the Legislature, backed by the Governor. It is a feather in the hat of the state of Wyoming’s higher education system. It’s just a shared victory.

Dr. Tribley says the college is pushing for the degree program to begin in the fall semester next year.

The Software Development Diploma is one of 3 degree programs the College added to its curriculum earlier this year.

The other 2 are Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
